St. Mary's, Birch

St Mary's was built on land given by Robert Gregge Hopwood of Hopwood Hall. The foundation stone was laid on 17 June 1827 and the church consecrated on 11 June 1829.

In 1963 the church was demolished and replaced by a new building.

The graveyard closed to new burials in 1968.
